Important Advisory on Check Issuance
Starting July 1, 2025, checks with improper formatting will no longer be accepted for clearing under the Check Image Clearing System (CICS). This move aims to make check clearing faster, smarter, and more secure. Proper formatting includes the following:
✔ Date of Issue must follow the MM-DD-YYYY format or its variants (e.g., 07-02-2025, 7-02-2025, 07-2-2025).
✔ Amount in Figures must be written as 10,000.00 (other variations like “P 10,000.00” or “10,000--” will be rejected).
✔ Amount in Words can follow the traditional manner, with symbols or dashes before and after, centavos expressed as fractions, and the word “only” included.
✔ Payee Name can also follow the traditional format, with asterisk (*) or dash (-), but “Cash” or named payees with “and/or” will not be accepted.
✔ Signatures may extend beyond the provided boxes, and two or more signatures may share one signature box.
✔ Post-dated Checks must be warehoused and stamped before July 1, 2025.
Manager’s Checks and Cashier’s Checks will be given a grace period until July 31, 2025. For more details, visit pchc.com.ph or contact us.
